Zygmunt Bauman (Pozna-Poland, 1925). As a young man aspired to become a physicist, but following the life events, especially related to the war, he
embraced sociology. At the end of the ’60s was a university teacher in Israel. In 1972 he was invited to head the department of the University of Leeds
in England; in this city he continues to live today. His fame has spread worldwide thanks to two publications. The first one is Modern ‘and holocaust
(1992), in which he offered a revolutionary reinterpretation of modernity and an original perspective of holocaust. The second publication is Modern
liquid (2000), which offers one of the most insightful and successful metaphors in history of sociology. Since then, he has continued to explore and
describe the contemporary world in a convincing way. His latest book is Conversations on education, written with Riccardo Mazzeo.
